Whenever I encounter a new word in a podcast or something I am reading I write it down, look it up, and record the definition. Sometime later, I batch and publish here.
pluriennial - lasting a few years.
isoprene - hemi-terpine hydrocarbon (C5-H8).
trammel - something that restricts activity, expression, or progress; a restraint.
polysemy - ability of words, signs and symbols to have multiple meanings.
coruscate - give forth flashes of light; sparkle and glitter. Or exhibit sparkling virtuosity.
mezuzot - plural of mezuzah.
kasher - to make something kosher.
sheikha - wife of a sheikh, or a woman respected for her piety or religious learning
nominalism - doctrine holding that abstract concepts, general terms, or universals have no independent existence but exist only as names.
nucleosome - repeating subunits of chromatin found in eukaryotes, consisting of a DNA chain coiled around a core of histones.
isobar - nuclides with the same number of nucleons.
isodiapher - nuclides with equal neutron excess (N1 − Z1 = N2 − Z2).
isotone - nuclides with the same neutron number N, but different proton number Z
odalisque - a female slave in a harem.
pernoctate - spend the night.
heeltap - remainder of drink left in a glass or bottle.
dripline - botany: boundary beyond which water will not drip from a plant’s foliage. Nuclear physics: boundary beyond which atomic nuclei are unbound with respect to the emission of a proton or neutron.
magicity - condition of a heavy isotope with a “magic number” of protons and neutrons and particular stability.
xenotime - mineral: yttrium phosphate.
matroid - mathematical structure that generalizes the concept of linear independence in vector spaces.
pignistic - being or relating to a probability that a rational person will assign to an option when required to make a decision.
culdoscope - specialized endoscope for visually examining a woman's pelvic organs.
monic - of a polynomial whose leading coefficient is one.
symmedian - special line(s) in a triangle that is the line symmetrical to a median with regard to the angle-bisector.
superficies - outer surface of an area or a body, or external appearance or aspect.
celerity - swiftness of action or motion; speed.
fianchetto - (chess) development of a bishop from its original position to the second square of the adjacent knight's file.
transvection - epigenetic interaction between an allele on one chromosome and the corresponding allele on the homologous chromosome.
homothetic - math: transform that’s a scaling + a translation. Economics: when the ratio of demand depends only on the ratio of prices.
etiology - assignment of a cause, an origin, or a reason for something.
cloaca - sewer or latrine. Or common cavity that serves as the opening for the intestinal, genital, and urinary tracts in many vertebrates
regressand - dependent variable in a regression.
diorite - crystalline rocks rich in plagioclase feldspar and having little quartz.
forcipule - centipede.
stereology - study of three-dimensional properties of objects or matter usually observed two-dimensionally.
mountebank - flamboyant charlatan or hawker of quack medicines who attracts customers with stories, jokes, or tricks.
fisc - public or state treasury.
tpot - “this part of twitter”.
offbore - a missile’s ability to target an object not on its center line (“off boresight”).
morphometry - measurement of the form of objects or organisms.
murmuration - murmuring; discontent; grumbling. In falconry: a gathering of starlings.
confute - to refute conclusively.
magmatism - flow of magma, or formation of igneous rock by the solidification of magma.
calumny - slander, defamation.
dysautonomia -dysfunctions of the autonomic nervous system.
orthostatic - relating to or caused by standing upright.
hypsometry - measurement of elevation relative to sea level.
grosbeak - one of various species of finches having a large, stout beak.
jacquerie - violent revolt by peasants.
facies - general aspect or outward appearance, or appearance or expression of the face, or rock or stratified body distinguished from others by its appearance or composition.
highstand - interval during which the sea level was above the edge of a continental shelf.
runbook - compilation of procedures and operations that a system administrator carries out.
Atenism - monolatristic religion in ancient Egypt founded by Akhenaten.
monolatry - worship of a single deity (while believing in the existence of others).
infimum - greatest element of the containing set that is smaller than or equal to all elements of the subset.
finitary - of a function: taking a finite number of arguments to produce an output.
biennale - biennial celebration or exhibition.

xenial - hospitable, especially to visiting strangers or foreigners
uveitis - inflammation of the middle layer of the eye- the uvea.
enteric - of, relating to, or being within the intestine. Or: typhoid fever.
scissile - readily cut or split.
scission - act of cutting or severing; division or fission. Or, a schism.
salubrious - healthy, beneficial, wholesome, salutary.
quatrain - stanza or poem of four lines.
sestet - last six lines of a sonnet
hypothecate - pledge by law to a specific purpose.
traduce - speak badly or tell lies about someone.
paraphilic - extreme or dangerous sexual desire.
fugazi - mirage.
anisocoria - condition of unequal size of one’s pupils.
farrago - confused mixture, hodgepodge, hotchpotch.
bustard - large Old World bird, males have a spectacular courtship display.
smegmatis - type of bacteria that lives on human genitalia.
dhow - lateen-rigged ship with one or two masts.
lateen - triangular sail on a long yard at an angle of 45° to the mast, or ship so rigged.
toxoid - chemically modified toxin, no longer toxic but still antigenic.
intensivist - physician who treats critically ill patients in the ICU.
histosol - soil order of peaty soils, with a deep surface layer of purely organic material.

entisol - soil order of mineral soils that have not yet differentiated into distinct horizons.
antigenemia - presence of antigens (especially viral antigens) in the bloodstream.
